Rescue Dogs

Chocolate labA second chance and a loving home is one of the most precious gifts you can give a dog. The satisfaction is hugely rewarding. Many dogs find themselves in rescue centres through no fault of their own.

They may have been abandoned because of behavioural difficulties. Because of past experiences, some dogs may have a fear of people, animals or certain situations caused by an experience involving a severe punishment or a trauma. Often where there is a history of abuse, neglect, or lack of training, some dogs will be nervous or display aggressive behaviour. Because they carry memories of previous experiences, they need extra patience, affection, and training to help them get over the stress of having been in a kennel, or they have suffered from loneliness, anxiety, and stress or depression. And as a result have behavioral issues that they carry with them.

Not all rescue dogs have problems. For some dogs their owners simply do not have enough time for them. Perhaps the owners were unable to pay for veterinary treatment after an illness or injury. The owner may have passed away, or gone into a nursing home. The owners may have divorced and cannot keep the dog.

Some rescue dogs have had several homes. With this in mind they may be confused and vulnerable. The early stages of having your rescue dog at home can sometimes be difficult as your dog may need to learn to trust people again or maybe for the first time in its lives.

NewfoundlandThere are many reasons, the fact remains that a dog needs a good loving home for life so that we can stop yo-yo re-homing. You are reading this page because you may have a situation with your rescue dog. And you need help!

If I could give one piece of advice at this stage it would be to “give your dog a chance to settle into your home”. I can help you over come any problem, and if we work together we can provide your dog with a home for life, and give them the lottery of life stress free.
